Frequently

asked

questions

Remember that these answers are general guidelines, and your dentist will provide personalized advice based on your specific needs and circumstances. Always consult with a dental professional for your individual oral health concerns.

Regular dental check-ups are typically recommended every six months to maintain good oral health. However, the frequency may vary depending on your individual oral health needs, and your dentist will advise you accordingly.

To prevent cavities and gum disease, it’s essential to maintain good oral hygiene practices. This includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day with an age appropriate fluoride toothpaste and cleaning between your teeth daily with floss or interdental brushes. Your dentist will discuss your options and find out what works for you. Additionally, it is important to maintain a balanced diet, avoiding snacking and restricting sugar intake to mealtimes.
Always contact your dentist as soon as you can in case of an emergency. If it’s after hours, there is a number on the answerphone for patients to call.

Dental x-rays, when performed with appropriate safety measures, are considered safe. They expose you to very low levels of radiation, especially with modern digital x-ray machines that use minimal radiation compared to older techniques.

Common signs of gum disease include bleeding gums, bad breath, swollen or red gums, and loose teeth. Treatment is carried out by a dentist, hygienist or specialist and involves cleaning the teeth above and below the gums to remove calculus and plaque. In advanced or complicated cases, surgery may be indicated. Early detection is crucial for effective treatment.
Discuss your anxiety with your dentist so they can provide a comfortable experience. Some strategies to ease anxiety include relaxation techniques, hypnosis, acupuncture and sedation.
